Care to share a good memory you'll always have of him?
When he was a toddler, he and I were watching tv in the living room and his little sister was asleep and had a nightmare in her room. She ran screaming into the living room and without a second thought, Isaiah had jumped off the couch, grabbed a pillow and charged into her room swinging wildly. I will never forget his face as he disappeared into the darkness of the doorway. Terrified and eyes completely squeezed shut and screaming himself as he launched into the attack. We liked having pillow fights, so in the moment his mind translated that into a weapon. It was so absurd yet hilarious to see this little 4 year old running into darkness against evil monsters wildly swinging a pillow using his whole body to do so. I ribbed him a lot about it over the years but it was the first true telling of the type of man he would become that I had. Heart on the sleeve and would do absolutely anything for those he loved. His lil sis was in trouble and he was going to deal with that trouble to the best of his ability and no matter the cost. No matter what.
He was a bright spot in my family that doesn't have a lot of bright spots. I grieve for him but also my niece. They were so incredibly close.
Thanks for letting me share that and thanks to everyone else here.
