I live fairly close to this place and have never tried it.. Food any good?

Was good while I was growing up. Assume it still is.

Still very good. Has never gotten the publicity of some other places, but it's never really needed it either.

Used to go there all the time from about '95 to '97.
Was fantastic then.

Very good solid BBQ. Classic Central Texas German style BBQ. I like their Ribs and moist brisket. It won't compete with the Franklin's but it's good BBQ.

How can you drive by Martin's and not be curious enough to stop in?

Went all the time whole in school.

My Dad introduced it to.me and my brother. He would eat there and drink beers in the 60s. Had 1 pool table.

Slow pace like I like it. No rush

Takes 30 minutes to get a chopped beef sandwich.

My outfit used to have our Christmas parties there. Loved the food

Most of y'all must be olds and remembering a Martin's of days past, because today's Martin's is not great by any means. It takes forever to get your food regardless of whether you are eating there or call in a to-go order. Not to mention that the workers seem to move in slow motion and are not the least bit friendly.

I will admit that it is a neat little place that takes you back into a different time once you step inside, but don't bother with the BBQ unless you want it to stick with you all day and enjoy burping up fake smoke flavoring!

Martins used to be great! Haven't been in a few years. Their taters and green beans were amazing.

Try the Aggie sandwich from Martin's.

They gave always been slow. Part of the ambiance.

Do the old guys still play dominoes while you wait on your order? We used to go there for lunch quite a bit, back in the day.

Neat place but the food has gone way downhill in recent years. It is the oldest continually operating restaurant in Brazos County. I suppose that excludes Sbisa Hall.

I'm kind of curious now to go eat there again just to see what some of yall are complaining about. I assume, as usual, faux nostalgia is at the root of this.

As long as I can remember, this was just an old place to eat mediocre food that was brought to the table in a casual fashion. Martin's was never a neckbeard food destination. Some of us just liked it for what it was, understanding that it wasn't pretending to be much more.

Used to love going there for lunch 98-02. and grew up on it when I was a kid.

BCS is a BBQ wasteland.

we would go there in the early 80's for cheap beer and to play pool. It was basically just a run down bar for real old guys back then. The BBQ was terrible.

In those days you went to either C&J's or Tom's (the original)

Great place to get a cold beer back in '94-95 without having to show ID

why go to Martins when you can get a slow-cooked McRib for $3

CS local and during my 40+ years, I have never had good BBQ or reasonably quick service from Martins. I prefer places off the beaten path, locally owned (bonus if there is a historical marker out front), and Martin's meets these, but the food/service has always been a let down.
