Or you could get a third person and go as salt and pepper and cumin, or lady and the tramp and their bowl of spaghetti, or Lewis and Clark and their canoe, or Dr. Frankenstein and his monster and a scared villager, or R2D2 and C3PO and that robot that Luke's uncle almost bought from the Jawas.
You could go as the most interesting man in the world and a bottle of dos equis or one of those little strumpets he's always hanging around with.
You could go as slooty lesbian Ana and Elsa from frozen.

Wife and I did this a few years back.. It was hard as hell to drink and move anywhere, especially in crowded areas. I also had to tie the costume down in the bed of a truck. Its not the typical adults only party costume but hey we won every costume contest we went to at every bar.
The Price is Right one is good.
One of you is a slim Jim, one of you goes as a nun. Then tell everybody you are Trump's chances of winning.
Or, one of you is covered in candy, the other just has the word DANGER written on them. Then tell everybody that you're "Stranger Things".
Everybody loves Stranger Things.
But, everybody hates stupid pun costumes that you have to explain. So, you're better off with one of Tanya's dumb ones.

Or, how about: one of you goes as Bernie Sanders. The other is a roundish Mongolian tent. Then tell everyone "We're Yurt and Bernie". And they'll smile weakly and go away. And you'll follow them and say "you know, like Bert and Ernie, but not". And THEN, if you've done it right, you'll never be asked back and you won't ever have to hang out again with people who think an over 40s edgy couples costume party is a good idea.
