Honestly, I think they are a SIDS hazard, but just how big of a hazard I don't know. Babies can't roll around for a while, so as long as you're not putting her face in it you're probably ok. Here's my take: You're the parent and you can do whatever the hell you want. You don't need a bunch of smarmy know-it-all parents telling you what to do.

Last time I referred to AAP recommendations on Texags, I got called a helicopter mom. But just for you:

FWIW, that bumper is really pretty and I wouldn't think that it's a safety hazard until baby can roll over or scoot around. Probably a good question for your pediatrician if you're concerned.
