Not sure if I can even name a modern philosopher. Maybe that dude who writes "The Ethicist" columns for NY Times.

Funny, a column called "The Ethicist" would be printed in the NY Times, a liberal left leaning news paper. I wonder if there is connection between philosphy and being a liberalitisionist.

What is it, exactly, that you think philosophers do, and what do you think philosophy is?

Pure philosophers don't exist in a capitalist society. If you think about it, the classic philosophers didn't really do anything to affect the world. Maybe, MAYBE they kick started the European Renaissance, but maybe not.
