The kids family probably would have come back and said the manager had an advantage over the kid since he knew he was altered and that by hitting him he was knowingly taking advantage of the situation. It would be a bullcrap argument but that's the kind of BS people like to pull these days. The manager handled it about as well as he could I guess. He stayed reasonably calm and never touched the kid until the other employee took him down. His was probably desperately wanting to just cold clock the kid, but knew his job would be in danger if he did, no matter how justified it was.
Unfortunately, these days that's how it works since the kid would play the victim and go crying to Daddy and his lawyers.
