Even if it were a real gun, and they certainly should treat the situation as though it could be, I don't think the fact that someone has a gun is enough of a reason to shoot them, even if they are black. All the same people who say, "Look, he had a gun! He deserved to get shot!" Are the same ones complaining about the erosion of the 2nd ammendment. So he possibly has a gun, so what? Unless he's shooting it, let's assess the situation before opening fire on someone for simply having a gun.

That's not what the article says though. It says it's hard to believe that they told him three times to show his hands. In other words, it's pretty obvious that they did not.

Don't wanna get shot by cops? Don't point a gun, fake or real, at people and then reach down for it when the cops get there. It's not hard to understand.

How would you idiots have felt if a person he pointed the gun at had a CHL and unloaded on the kid? Would you be screaming murder, or is it just murder because all cops are bad?

Well I guess this kid deserved it.

No kid "deserves" to be shot, but he didn't do we he should have done. Can't blame the cops for that. Where were the kids parents? Why aren't they being questioned?

So now you're claiming this kid was pointing his gun at the cops? Otherwise I'm not sure how a reasonable person could make such a comparison.

So lets give them time to point the gun at the cops before they react. Especially since we all know it takes so much time and effort to pull the trigger once that gun is pointed at its target.

Uh, who said that? You're the one claiming this situation is analogous to a CHL carrier unloading on someone pointing a gun directly at them. There is a huge difference between the two situations, and its amazing that you don't recognize that.

He was reaching for a gun after pointing it at other people. What is so hard to understand about this? The kid brought this on himself by threatening other people.

You seem to be arguing something that nobody is arguing about. The point is, the kid would not be dead if the cops decided to assess the sitatuion rather than roll in guns a'blazing.

There's something relevant to the story, skin color.

Because if it was a white kid goofing around like a jackass with his bb gun, cops wouldn't roll in guns blazing without stopping themselves for a moment to figure out what's going on.
