The company I work for just started a mentor program. So I got nominated to mentor the new engineer who is a UH grad that didn't major in the Power side of electrical engineering but more on the computer side of electrical engineering. So today we go out in the field today because we have a voltage conversion going on going from 15kV to 25kV. So we are driving and I'm explaining some of the framing on our distribution lines and then he proceeds to tell me that the primary conductors are 120/240 voltage. I say uh no they are either 12.5 kV or 24.9 kV. I'm stuck with this guy for a month. I think he needs to spend about 3 months out in the field with the lineman, so they can eat him alive.

I simply can't believe this hasn't been made into a sitcom yet.

For some reason my office has long benches with several workstations at each, and no dividers except the cabinets under the desk.

It's a major corporation, too. But I guess this saved them money.
