A 'Three Peat' for men and women at NCAA Championships!

You can go ahead and chalk up Pat Henry's legacy as the greatest college track and field coach in history, after his Aggie men's and women's teams each took home an unprecedented "triple-double" … a three peat as national champions Saturday at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Only one coach has ever won back-to-back national titles in the same years on both the men's and women's side. That man is Pat Henry, and he has done so twice … once at LSU and again at Texas A&M.

Henry took it one step further this week, taking home back-to-back-to-back national championships! An unbelievable performance all-around for the Aggies, who trailed in both standings entering the final event … the 4X400 meter relay.

But Jessica Beard's legendary effort -- going max speed throughout her 400-meter anchor leg -- got it done for Texas A&M in the women's meet. And that was immediately followed by the men, behind a strong finish by anchor Tabarie Henry, following suit to bring home the hardware once again.

In the history of Aggie Athletics up until 2009, Texas A&M had claimed just four national championships as a department (one in football; three in softball). But over the last three academic years, the Aggies have now claimed eight team national titles (three in men's track; three in women's track; one in women's basketball; one in men's golf).

I am in Tallahassee for the A&M / FSU super regional but I plan on grabbing another video interview with Coach Henry shortly upon my arrival back in College Station. Be looking for that next week.
