• Today was not our best effort, but still a pretty good coming off the break. We had time as coaches to evaluate all the plays from the scrimmage last week.

• Some guys need to practice daily, and South Padre didn't really help that.

• The week helped some guys heal from injuries.

• Jordan Mastrogiovani looks a lot more confident and comfortable. He's embracing the confidence and leadership part of the position. Reggie Chevis is a very physical player. He does a great job in the run game, but it's a different game for him when it comes to the pass game. He's fighting to become a complete player. The wild card is A.J. Hilliard. He can play all the linebacker spots. We've got bodies with Bass and Washington, we just have to figure out where they fit best.

• Noel Ellis has some experience playing nickel, but he's not a very big guy. He's a good cover guy with physicality. So we have a good nickel with him. We moved Alex Sezer over to nickel today. So we have two guys with experience there with more versatility than Hurd. They aren't as physical as Hurd, but we can work on that.

• German Ifedi has really come on playing right tackle. He likes playing there. The way he's playing there, he doesn't want to give up the spot.

• We have a lot of flexibility and depth at the offensive line. We need to be able to find that depth all over the board defensively.

• Jarvis Harrison will be ready to go in the fall.

• James White looks good, especially on special teams. He's right there with those guys fighting for playing time, but I look for him to be a full-time special team guy with a contribution at running back also.

• Ifedi is a guy that really benefited from his redshirt year. Sometimes that doesn't happen.
The stability of the offensive line and running backs is going to be key this season for a young or inexperienced quarterback.

RSJ can create some matchup advantages by his size and flexibility. He came to us with the idea of playing flexible tight end or inside guy.
