Defensive Tackle

Westfield (Houston, TX)
Ht: 6-2  Wt: 280

Recruiter: Price
Offer: Yes
A&M

The Aggies’ first-ever “official” SEC commitment, Hardreck chose Texas A&M over Arkansas and Missouri on the school’s first day as an official member of the Southeastern Conference. The nationally-recruited defensive tackle also held offers from Oklahoma, Auburn and Michigan, among others. Those suitors didn’t back off and continued to pursue the Houston-area’s most highly-regarded interior defender deep into January. Long considered a priority target by the A&M staff, the Aggies poured everything they had into his hotly-contested recruitment. In Walker, defensive line coach Terry Price and coordinator Mark Snyder are getting a compact, powerful and explosive interior player, who is blessed with a nice first step and outstanding quickness. Hardreck is capable of quickly beating guards into gaps. He also plays with excellent pad level and a low center of gravity, thus he consistently wins at the point of attack. He’s already very difficult to uproot in run defense and should only get better as he fills out a frame that will easily hold 300-305 pounds. He’s a legitimate candidate for immediate playing time. Walker earned 13-5A first team All-District honors as a senior. As a junior -- his first season as a starter -- Hardreck tallied 33 tackles and two sacks, and as a senior he tallied 38 tackles, 4 sacks, and ten quarterback hurries.
